5 Foods to Eat to Feel More Energized

person chopping veggies on a cutting boardDo you ever get to the middle of your day and wish you had more energy? Instead of reaching for another cup of coffee, we’ve got a better idea—give the food tips and tricks outlined below a try!

  • Eggs. Often eaten at breakfast, eggs are packed full of protein to help get your metabolism going in the morning. Don’t usually eat breakfast? You should! Even a morning smoothie will do and offer nutrition
  • Seeds or nuts. Cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, and other nuts you might find in ‘trail mix’ are great for a mid-day pick-me-up. They’re generally packed full of healthy fats and protein to keep your blood sugar level. Keeping some in your car for a quick snack on the go is a great idea.
  • Veggies and fruit…but not equal portions. Generally speaking, aim for twice the amount of vegetables in your diet each day as fruit. Achieve this by opting for salads packed full of leafy greens with berries on top!
  • Lean protein. Think things like white fish, skinless chicken breasts, or lean ground beef. Not big on meat? Cottage cheese and plain Greek yogurt will also offer an energy boost.
  • Water! Believe it or not, most of us don’t get enough water every day. A good rule of thumb is to consume half of your body weight in ounces each day. So, if you weigh 150 pounds, that’s 75 ounces of water.
